Natural Breast Augmentation
While it may seem too good to be true, it is now possible to naturally increase the size of your breasts without pills, breast implants, or cumbersome machines! Using the latest techniques and innovations in plastic surgery, Dr. Traci Temmen is able to transform a woman’s entire physique by performing liposuction on one area of the body with excess fat and transferring the harvested fat to the breasts to create fuller, larger breasts. And best of all, all of this is done through small, barely noticeable scars!
Dr. Traci M. Temmen has a special interest and artistic eye for natural breast augmentation through liposuction and fat transfer to the breast. She has studied the topic for years and has even traveled throughout the country attending conferences, courses, and meeting with the leaders in the field of fat grafting. Because of her enthusiasm and special training, she is one of only a few board certified plastic surgeons performing fat transfer to the breast.
Natural Breast Augmentation with Liposuction and Fat Transfer to the Breasts
Natural breast augmentation with liposuction and fat transfer (also known as fat grafting) to the breast is a very exacting and technically demanding operation. Because of the high level of skill required, only board certified plastic surgeons with adequate training and experience like Dr. Temmen are qualified to perform this procedure.
The surgery is began by performing careful, targeted liposuction on areas of a woman’s body with excess, high quality fat. The areas most commonly targeted with liposuction are the abdomen, flanks, “muffin-top,” outer thighs, and inner knees. The liposuction is performed carefully so that the aesthetics of the donor area are respected and that enough, high quality fat is collected for transfer to the breasts. The collected fat is then gently processed and prepared for transfer to the breasts. The processed fat is transferred, or grafted, into the breast using tiny cannulas placed through very small incisions in the lower fold of the breast. The fat transfer is a painstakenly, technically demanding portion of the surgery because the fat must be injected in only specific areas of the breast and in specific ways to maximize fat survival, breast volume, and the final outcome.
Who is a Candidate?
The ideal candidate for natural breast augmentation with fat transfer is a woman with targeted areas of excess fat and small breasts who would like a moderate increase in breast volume while sculpting another area of the body. In general, natural fat grafting can provide up to a 1 to 1 1/2 increase in bra cup size (e.g. from a 34B to a 34C).
Additionally, patients who have previously had breast augmentation with implants but no longer wish to have their breast implants because of age, capsular contracture, or other complications, may be a good candidate for liposuction and fat transfer to the breasts. Removal of the breast implants, liposuction and fat transfer to the breasts, and possibly a skin tightening procedure may be a perfect surgical option for these type of patients who wish to be rid of unwanted breast implants but also wish to still have full, beautiful breasts.
Who is Not a Candidate?
Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for natural breast augmentation with fat transfer. Because of this, during a consultation for natural breast augmentation with fat transfer, Dr. Traci Temmen carefully interviews and performs a thorough physical examination on every patient before agreeing to perform the surgery.
Patients with limited quantities of excess fat or those desiring a large increase in breast volume (e.g. 2 cup sizes or more) may be better served by breast augmentation with breast implants rather than fat transfer. Additionally, a woman with much sagging, or ptosis, of the breasts will not be adequately treated by natural breast augmentation with fat transfer alone. To improve excess skin or sagging of the breasts, breast implants or a breast lift with fat transfer to the breast may be necessary.
Natural Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer Scar Location
The scars for natural breast augmentation with fat transfer are generally small and placed in areas of the body rendering them virtually undetectable. To minimize the scar size and burden, Dr. Temmen uses small, 3-5mm cannulas to perform the liposuction, and even smaller 1-2mm cannulas to perform the fat transfer portion of the operation. The liposuction scars are placed near the area of the body where liposuction is to be performed, and are usually able to be hidden by clothes postoperatively. The fat transfer scars are placed under the fold of the breast and occasionally around the nipple areolar complex where they are rarely ever seen.
Dr. Traci Temmen performs her cosmetic breast surgeries in an accredited, private surgical suite, custom-made for plastic surgeons, at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa. She performs natural breast augmentation with liposuction and fat transfer under general anesthesia with the surgery generally lasting two to three hours, depending on the complexity and number of areas to be targeted by the liposuction. Patients recover in the luxury of a private recovery suite with a recovery room nurse dedicated solely to them and their comfort.
Patients may have drains in the areas where liposuction were performed that are generally removed in three to five days. Compression garments must be worn on the areas where liposuction was performed and a supportive bra is worn for six weeks. Most patients are able to return to work within 5-7 days, drive when they are no longer taking narcotic pain medications, and return to full exercise by six weeks.
Natural Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer Cost
While it is true for all cosmetic surgery that cost should not be the determining factor when choosing a plastic surgeon, it is especially true when choosing a plastic surgeon to perform your natural breast augmentation with fat transfer. Because of the high level of skill required to perform this surgery, only plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, and those with experience in fat grafting, should be considered.
The cost of a natural breast augmentation with liposuction and fat transfer to the breasts varies by plastic surgeon and by region of the country. In the Tampa Bay area of Florida, the average price of a natural breast augmentation with fat grafting surgery begins at approximately $6,500 including surgeon fees, anesthesia fees, and facility fees. This cost will increase with the more areas of liposuction performed, complexity, previous breast surgeries, and increases in planned surgical time. In general, the cost of natural breast augmentation with fat transfer is more than the cost of standard breast augmentation with implants because of the increased operative time, addition of liposuction, and high level of surgical skill required.
Dr. Temmen offers convenient payment options for natural breast augmentation and all other cosmetic surgery. They accept check, credit, card, and CareCredit, a credit card that offers special financing and low monthly payments for cosmetic surgery procedures.
Risks and Problems
Even though natural breast augmentation with liposuction and fat transfer sounds like a dream come true, there are risks and known side effects associated with the surgery. Like all surgeries, there is a risk of bleeding, infection, and fluid collections associated with liposuction and fat transfer to the breast. Fortunately, most of these issues are easily treated in an outpatient setting. The most important thing to realize when considering natural breast augmentation with fat transfer is that not all of the fat transferred to the breast will survive long-term. Generally, with good technique and a skilled surgeon, 70-80% of the injected fat will survive and live forever. Final volume and results are evident at 3 weeks to 3 months. If a patient desires an even larger increase in breast volume, additional sessions of liposuction and fat grafting to the breast can be performed.
Occasionally, if certain areas of transferred fat do not survive in the breast, scar tissue may form in that area and a hard bump or lump may be palpable. A breast lump of this nature may cause unnecessary concern for the patient or her doctors, causing the patient to undergo additional mammograms or biopsies. However, trained radiologists using more advanced techniques and imaging devices can generally tell the difference between fat necrosis (fat that did not survive the transfer process) and a concerning breast mass.
Plastic surgeons like Dr. Traci Temmen, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, are trained not only in breast surgery, but also in diagnosing and appropriately treating the complications and risks associated with natural breast augmentation with liposuction and fat transfer to the breast.
