The limit of 4000cc of fat removal during this procedure remains intact. Dr. Temmen continues to adhere to Florida requirements.

Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure Details
The Brazilian butt lift is a two-part cosmetic surgery procedure that uses both liposuction and fat transfer techniques. First, liposuction is performed on the abdomen, back, love handles, and/or thighs to whittle a tiny waist, create a sexy “scoop back,” and narrow the thighs, all in order to create the perfect “frame” for the buttocks. Next, the harvested fat is collected and carefully transferred or “grafted” to the buttocks in order to augment, shape, and lift the skin and soft tissues of the gluteal region. The Brazilian butt lift surgery can turn any square, flat, boyish-looking back side into a curvy, rounded, high, and firm buttocks. The results of the Brazilian butt lift are long-lasting, and fat does not reaccumulate in the areas where liposuction was performed.
Prior to any Brazilian butt lift surgery, Dr. Traci Temmen carefully examines each patient and pays meticulous attention to his or her particular concerns and desires. Dr. Temmen understands that while many patients may want a “Kardashian butt,” others may opt for a more subtle or athletic postoperative Brazilian butt lift result. By adjusting her surgical technique and altering the amount of liposuction and/or fat transfer performed based on individual anatomy, desires, and input, Dr. Temmen can provide custom-fit, tailor-made Brazilian butt lift results to accommodate every patient, male or female, that has surgery at Temmen Plastic Surgery.
How Much Fat (How Many CC’s) to Inject/ Transfer During Brazilian Butt Lift
“How big should I go” and “How many CC’s of fat should I get injected” are two of the most common questions Dr. Traci Temmen is asked during a Brazilian butt lift consultation. Not surprisingly, however, the answer is individualized to each patient depending on his or her desires, preoperative anatomy, and available fat reserves.
For example, an average-sized woman within her ideal body weight range desiring a standard Brazilian butt lift result could expect to have around 400cc to 600cc of processed fat injected into each buttock (i.e. 800cc to 1200cc total). A very small, thin patient may get the same result with injection of 250cc to 350cc of processed fat into each buttock (i.e. 500cc to 700cc total) during a Brazilian butt lift. On the other hand, it would not be uncommon to inject 700cc to 1000cc of fat into each buttock (i.e. 1400cc to 2000cc total) for a larger patient or one desiring a larger, more exaggerated result during a Brazilian butt lift surgery.
But don’t worry; it is not solely up to the patient to decide on the final size or amount of fat to be injected during a Brazilian butt lift. Dr. Traci Temmen carefully examines each patient, listens to their unique desires and concerns, and after a thorough and detailed conversation with each patient, will help the decide on the ideal size range and amount of fat to be injected during a Brazilian butt lift surgery.
Who is a Candidate for Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery
The best candidate for a Brazilian butt lift is a patient with a small, square, flat, or sagging buttocks who also has unwanted fat on the abdomen, back, love handles, hips, and/or thighs. Brazilian butt lift patients should be at or near their ideal body weight and generally have good skin quality. Moderate degrees of skin laxity or gluteal sagging can be completely corrected and transformed with a Brazilian butt lift. However, severe skin laxity and sagging following massive weight loss may require surgical excision in addition to liposuction and fat transfer.
Initial Consultation
To guarantee each patient the best results and safest Brazilian butt lift possible, Dr. Traci Temmen performs a thorough history and physical examination on every patient considering liposuction and fat transfer or fat grafting procedures. During each Brazilian butt lift surgery consultation, Dr. Temmen and her staff take the time to explain the surgery in detail, describe expected results, and answer every possible question. Dr. Temmen wants every one of her patients to be well informed, comfortable, and secure.
Patients undergoing a Brazilian butt lift surgery will also receive preoperative laboratory work, and depending on age, a chest X-ray, EKG, and medical clearance from their primary care doctor.
Who is Not a Candidate for Liposuction and Body Sculpting Surgery
Of course, not every patient is a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift. Patients that have limited amounts of excess fat on their body may not have enough fat to transfer to the buttocks during a Brazilian butt lift surgery. While this is rarely the case (i.e. most patients, regardless of how thin they are, usually have adequate amounts of fat to perform a Brazilian butt lift), patients that are extremely thin with no excess fat may require gluteal augmentation with implants (butt implants) to obtain the desired result. Additionally, patients with severe skin laxity or excessive gluteal sagging resulting from gastric bypass surgery or massive weight loss may require skin excision or a lower body lift in addition to liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks.
Patients that smoke, have complicated medical problems (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, blood clots), or are considered obese with a BMI >30 are also not candidates for liposuction. Dr. Traci Temmen requires that patients stop smoking for at least 6 months to 1 year, have medical conditions well controlled, and have reached their ideal body weight before proceeding with a Brazilian butt lift, liposuction, or fat transfer surgery.
Additionally, to obtain the best results possible, women who have recently had a baby should postpone surgery for at least 6-9 months to let their skin and soft tissues contract before considering a Brazilian butt lift surgery.
Brazilian Butt Lift Scars
Because the only scars necessary to perform a Brazilian butt lift are those needed to introduce the liposuction cannula into the body, the resultant Brazilian butt lift scars are very small and thin. Brazilian butt lift scars are very short, generally only ¼ to ½ inch long, and are placed in well-hidden areas of the body. Dr. Temmen takes great care to place each Brazilian butt lift scar in an area of the body where it will be least visible and heal with the least amount of scarring. After a year, it is often difficult for a plastic surgeon or even the patient to find the resultant Brazilian butt lift scars. The number and exact location of Brazilian butt lift scars necessary to perform the surgery are dependent on the area of the body targeted for liposuction. In addition to these scars, two to four tiny port scars may be placed in the dimples above the buttocks or in the gluteal fold crease to allow for the actual fat transfer to the buttocks.
BBL Surgery Recovery
Dr. Traci Temmen performs her cosmetic Brazilian butt lift surgeries in an accredited, private surgical suite, custom-made for plastic surgeons. Because of the length of surgery, Dr. Temmen performs all of her Brazilian butt lift surgeries under general anesthesia with the patient completely asleep. Brazilian butt lift surgery will generally take 2 to 3 hours to complete, depending on the number of areas treated, size of the patient, and complexity. Patients recover in the luxury of a private recovery suite with a recovery room nurse dedicated solely to them and their comfort.
Dr. Temmen’s Brazilian butt lift patients usually have two to four drains placed in the areas of the body treated with liposuction. These drains help speed recovery, decrease postoperative complications, and are generally removed in one to five days after surgery. A postoperative compression garment is worn for six weeks to aid in healing and shaping of the body and buttocks following a Brazilian butt lift. Compression stockings must be worn for two weeks following a Brazilian butt lift to decrease the risk of blood clots and promote circulation.
Following a Brazilian butt lift, most of Dr. Temmen’s patients are able to return to work within 3-5 days, drive when they are no longer taking narcotic pain medications, and return to full exercise by six weeks. Brazilian butt lift patients should also avoid prolonged sitting for the first two weeks following surgery and should try to stand or lie on their side or stomach when possible.
When can you start doing squats after BBL Surgery?
After six weeks of recovery, it’s safe for patients to return to normal exercise routines, including squats.
Brazilian Butt Lift Cost
Like with any cosmetic surgery, cost should not be the determining factor when choosing a Brazilian butt lift surgeon. Because of the years of training and high level of skill necessary to perform this surgery well, only plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery should be considered.
The cost of a Brazilian butt lift varies by plastic surgeon and by region of tserehe country. In the Tampa Bay area of Florida, the average price of a Brazilian butt lift, including surgeon fees, anesthesia fees, and facility fees starts around $10,900. The cost of a Brazilian butt lift surgery increases with the number of areas treated with liposuction, revision surgery, complexity, and increases in planned surgical time. Of course, it is always possible to find a surgeon willing to perform a Brazilian butt lift for a lower price. Often times, however, these “surgeons” may not be plastic surgeons at all, but may instead be general surgeons, Ob-gyn doctors, ER doctors, etc… that call themselves “cosmetic surgeons.” Other times, doctors willing to perform low cost Brazilian butt lift surgery may work for “plastic surgery mills” and lack the appropriate training and/or experience.
Dr. Temmen offers convenient payment options for Brazilian butt lift and all other cosmetic surgery. They accept check, credit card, and CareCredit, a credit card that offers special financing and low monthly payments for cosmetic surgery procedures.
Brazilian Butt Lift Risks and Problems
With her years of training, experience, and proper patient selection, Dr. Traci Temmen is able to keep Brazilian butt lift risks and complications to a minimum. However, there are still risks and known problems associated with Brazilian butt lift surgery, liposuction, and fat transfer or fat injections that cannot be totally eliminated. The most common problems associated with the Brazilian butt lift and liposuction surgery are concerns about size and postoperative rippling or asymmetries. Minor issues can usually be treated with compression garments, time, and lymphatic massage therapy. However, a few patients may ultimately desire revision surgery to correct postoperative size concerns or deformities.
Other minor risks of liposuction are postoperative blood, fluid, or fat collections that can usually be managed with prolonged drains or minor in-office procedures. Occasionally, superficial infections may occur following a Brazilian butt lift that can be managed with antibiotics in the clinic.
More serious risks or complications of a Brazilian butt lift surgery include wound-healing problems, blood clots in the legs or lungs, or more serious infections requiring hospitalization for intravenous antibiotics and possibly additional surgery. All of these risks can be minimized with proper patient selection and postoperative care. Thus, Dr. Traci Temmen, and most other credible plastic surgeons, will not perform a Brazilian butt lift surgery on patients who have high-risk medical problems or are extremely over weight.
Plastic surgeons like Dr. Traci Temmen, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, are trained not only in cosmetic surgery, but also in diagnosing and appropriately treating the complications and risks associated with cosmetic Brazilian butt lift, liposuction, and fat transfer procedures.
